Leuprolide belongs to a class of drugs known as gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists, which work by decreasing the production of certain hormones in the body. In the case of prostate cancer, it reduces the production of testosterone. In the case of breast cancer and other conditions, it reduces the production of estrogen.
